Thuy-Tien Dam, MD

Dr. Dam graduated with a BA in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California in Riverside, CA. She earned a medical doctorate at the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine. After completion of training in internal medicine and a geriatrics fellowship at the University of California San Diego, Dr. Dam joined the Columbia University’s faculty in August 2008. She is originally from Diamond Bar, CA.

Dr. Dam is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. Her areas of expertise include sarcopenia and frailty and their consequences such as falls, fractures and disability in older adults. Dr. Dam is a clinician investigator whose work uses advanced imaging techniques to diagnose sarcopenia and novel, low intensity technologies to promote physical activity in older adults.

She has received numerous grants supporting her research, including grants from the Empire Clinical Research Program, the National Institute of Health and the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health. She has published in these topic areas.
