Dr. Dharmarajan graduated with honors from Harvard College with an AB in Social Studies and Certificate (Minor) in Health Policy. He obtained his medical and business degrees from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Columbia Business School. He trained in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital prior to completing his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center.

Dr. Dharmarajan is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at the Yale University School of Medicine. He is also a Research Scientist at the Yale-New Haven Hospital Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation. His research focuses on understanding the elevated period of risk experienced by older patients after hospitalization.

Dr. Dharmarajan is supported by a Paul B. Beeson Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award in Aging (K23) from the National Institute on Aging, the John A. Hartford Foundation, and the American Federation for Aging Research. His work has appeared in multiple journals including JAMA, BMJ, and Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes. He welcomes opportunities for shared learning and collaboration.
