Jorge R. Kizer is Director of Clinical Cardiovascular Research, Cardiology Division, and Associate Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Population Health, at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. After receiving a medical doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Kizer subsequently earned a master of science in epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health, and went on to complete a cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. He came to Einstein-Montefiore from Weill Cornell Medical College, where he was Associate Professor of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Kizer’s research focuses on biochemical and imaging determinants of cardiovascular disease and stroke, with a view to enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for these disorders. A particular interest is cardiometabolic disorders, and the role of adipokines in abnormal glucose metabolism, cardiovascular disease and aging-related health decline. He has been an investigator in several NIH-funded population based studies, principally the Strong Heart Study and the Cardiovascular Health Study, and his work has been funded by research awards from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the American Heart Association.
